Patti started working out for the first time in her late 50s. 

Since then her mindset, her body, and her life have completely transformed.

She’s lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle since joining Reverb. 

It’s not just about fitting into a certain size, it’s also about gaining confidence from being strong and capable for LIFE!!

What were you doing for fitness before Reverb?

I never ever worked out before. I wasn’t athletic in school, I never played sports. 

What was the problem you wanted to solve that made you want to join Reverb?

I just wanted to lose weight. I didn’t know anything about muscle or nutrition. I didn’t feel good and the older I got the more my weight was going up. 

What kind of changes have you seen?

I’m almost 60, for me to start working out in my late 50’s it’s pretty amazing. I feel good and have so much more self confidence.

I’ve gained 4 pounds of muscle while losing 20 pounds of body fat.

I’ve learned so much here. The change to my eating has been amazing. I used to eat whatever I wanted and didn’t ever think about protein.

Nutrition coaching helped me with what I should be eating and keeping my protein up. I’m a picky eater and I’ve found good foods that work for my preferences each week.

The nutrition challenge was fun being in a group and seeing what everyone else is eating.  It gives me more ideas of things to cook and eat!

How else has it impacted your personal life?

I thought I wanted to hit a certain body weight – I used to want to be skinny. I’m not worried about my weight any more.  Now I don’t want to be skinny, I want to have muscle.

I don’t think about looking thin in clothes any more. I feel really good about myself. Especially starting to work out in my late 50’s, I just want to keep this for the rest of my life.

I feel like I can do things now. Like I can bend down and pick something up and the market without having to push myself off to get back up. I just feel confident all the way around. It’s changed my life for sure!

How has a 30m Personal Training strength session each week helped?

I do personal training 30m each week, in addition to my group classes, and we focus on lifting.  

I’ve gained so much confidence on my lifting and techniques, for example on squats and deadlifts, from the personal training sessions. 

I can squat and lift a lot more with good technique, and now in the group classes I feel much more confident doing all the lifts.

How have quarterly Goal Review check-ins helped?

Every 3 months we check in to see where I’m at. It helps remind me when I need to re-focus on upping the protein and staying consistent on my workouts.  

And sometimes I see I’ve gained more muscle or gotten more results than I expected, which is really motivating! 

What would you tell someone interested but scared to get started?

It’s intimidating to first walk in here, but after one class you don’t feel that way any more.  

Everyone here is rooting for you, everyone wants you to do well. No one’s judging you, and the coaches are always there helping you. 

I know everyone says “If I can do it, anyone can do it,” but it’s true!
