Saturday Spotlight: Maura D!

Maura has had an awesome first 3 months at Reverb, including dropping 10 lbs of body fat while putting on 3 lbs of muscle!

What were you doing for fitness before Reverb?

Honestly not a lot, some walking and that was about it. That was all – I thought – I had time for.

What was the problem you wanted to solve that made you want to join Reverb?

I was trying to get stronger. I know as we age we need to take care of the body. I didn’t want to lose movement. 

My joints were starting to hurt and I was gaining some weight and I didn’t want it to go any further. I wanted to find something I would stay with.

What kind of changes have you seen?

I’ve been coming 3 months now and I love it!  My aches and pains are completely gone, my joints don’t hurt any more, I’m stronger, I’m more flexible, I can move easier and I just feel better in my body. 

I’ve lost 10 pounds of body fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle so I’m really really happy with the results so far! I can’t wait to keep going.

How else has it impacted your personal life?

I move with a lot more confidence through the world. I can pick up my grandchildren so much easier and run around with them much better.  I’m more confident at work and in my life!

What about Reverb helped you the most?

What makes CrossFit Reverb so special is the On Ramp program. It teaches you what you need to know to be really comfortable in the next phase and in the group classes.  

You learn the techniques and build confidence that you won’t get hurt. The On Ramp is absolutely the reason I’m still here and successful in my workouts.

I always feel safe and confident that I’m not going to get hurt. We can scale the workout without giving up – which is what I would have done before. 

What would you tell someone interested but scared to get started?

I was really scared to walk in here because I thought everyone would be huge and young. I feel very comfortable and welcome here. 

The On Ramp builds a great foundation and in the group classes the coaches teach and show you the right way to be doing the movements. 

Everyone is welcome here and it really shows in the family environment, I’ve definitely found where I belong!
