Carlos got fed up with being out of shape, tired, in pain, and just feeling old.
So he did something about it and joined Reverb 4 months ago.
Things that are up: muscle, energy, mobility, strength, happiness.
Things that are down: body fat, pain, the age he feels.
Let’s hear about it from him!
What were you doing for fitness before Reverb?
Standing up and going to the restroom after sitting at a desk… so nothing!
What was the problem you wanted to solve that made you want to join Reverb?
Weight gain, clothes getting smaller. I was feeling old, not wanting to get out of bed in the morning, low energy. Having trouble bending over… just the effects of old age.
What kind of changes have you seen?
I’ve been coming to CrossFit Reverb 4 months. My number one change is I feel half my age: 25.
I have severe injuries from an active lifestyle when I was younger and neglecting myself. I previously couldn’t lift my arm above this level [shoulder level] and couldn’t reach across my body to put on a seatbelt without screaming in pain. Now I have extremely improved range and can put on my seatbelt no problem. The staff are very accommodating to my limitations – they adjust the workout on the fly so I can get a good workout and range of motion improvements without causing injury.
I have incredible energy and I feel like my muscles are all activating. I can get up out of bed and do whatever I need to do much quicker and I’m able to lift heavier things much easier. My core strength and physique is starting to come back.
How else has it impacted your personal life?
There have been a lot of positive changes that I attribute to just coming to a nice place where the atmosphere is good, you want to come, see enjoyable people, and just take care of yourself.
What would you tell someone interested but scared to get started?
Stepping into a CrossFit gym can be intimidating when you see someone lifting the bar overhead with 4 big plates on it, while I’m doing it with a 15lb bar rehabbing my shoulder. But since the vibe here is really cool, family oriented, everyone introduces themselves, you get training on good technique – I’ve never once felt inadequate.
It takes some time, but you’re learning and growing the whole time. As usual, just do it. Everything will be fine and you’ll have a good story to tell, just like this one.

Most importantly, he’s been consistent in his first 4 months!
After his goal review check in he knows exactly what to do to keep his results coming.
Great work, Carlos! Keep it up!!
