Jon G, 43, started at CrossFit Reverb a little over 3 months ago and has done a great job following the process. Let’s hear about it from him!

Before finding us, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations? 

  • “It felt like the day I turned 40 my metabolism slowed and the injuries started to pile up and became harder to recover from.
  • That, along with ~recently becoming a father (our toddler was a little over 1 year old at the time I joined Reverb), I had not yet figured out how to balance parenthood, spouse life, a demanding job, social activities, and maintenance of a consistent workout routine. 

How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation? 

  • “Simple things like the oh-so-dreaded “dad bod” started to creep in (I never believed it would happen to me, but man, it’s real!), decreased energy levels, an embarrassingly difficult time standing from a squatting / sitting position while holding my baby, and a general displeasure in my appearance.
  • Also, I continued to struggle with injuries every time I attempted to start back in the gym. 

How did our program help you? 

  • “From day 1 there was zero pressure to push myself beyond what I felt my body could take, as I slowly acclimated to the inherent demands and intensity of CrossFit. Each coach took the time to get to know me and my unique story / initial limitations, helping to modify the workouts to best fit my individual needs especially as I was still nursing a months-old shoulder injury.
  • The encouragement, support, and welcoming atmosphere cultivated by the coaches and the Reverb community as a whole cannot be understated and has directly impacted my motivation to consistently show up week after week.

How is life different for you now?

  • “In just 3 months I can objectively say that I am much stronger and more conditioned, and feeling / looking great. (To think, this is only the beginning of my Reverb journey!)
  • My pre-existing shoulder injury is gone. And as trivial as this may sound, I can quickly pop up from the ground now with my son, pointing to improved functional strength in addition to what I’m seeing in the gym.

What process did Jon follow to get these results?

  • Booked a No Sweat Intro to get a personalized prescription for how to reach HIS specific goals.
  • Followed the prescription: On Ramp Session, followed by training 2-3 times per week.
  • Listened to his coaches, stayed patient, put in consistent attendance and effort.
  • That’s it! After attending his 90-day Goal Review, he has a slightly updated plan and he’ll keep on trucking to hit his next goal!
